lyrics
There's a war on Christmas, I'm not sure if you've heard
But it seems like everywhere I go, I just can’t escape the word
And it’s making people so afraid, they can’t believe that life’s so rough
If there’s a war on Christmas we’re not fighting hard enough
Walking around the city at dusk the landscape’s red and green
And a fat man in a velvet suit is on every TV screen
I know it’s just for childlike joy but you’d have to strain to see
That there’s a war on Christmas ‘cause it’s invisible to me
But all of that’s just marketing, they're not real religious things
Which are safe in every church and chapel from Seattle to New Orleans
And nobody’s ever tried or wanted to change what you believe
If there’s a war on Christmas it’s pretty hard to see
Maybe I’m just tired of all same old sleigh-belled songs in every shopping aisle
And it shouldn’t be such a crime, for some sales clerk to say “Happy Holidays” with a smile
Take a minute in our shoes, those of us who disagree
And just try to imagine now how crazy all this seems
Because you’re tired of getting what you want and now you’re acting victimized
So there’s a war on Christmas but I can't see it through my eyes
When there’s a bible verse on the courtroom door with the commandments right inside
If there’s a war on Christmas it’s only in your mind
We don’t all believe what you believe, I know hearing that can be tough
If there’s a war on Christmas we’re not fighting hard enough
